I've been pretty bad at responding to the extraordinarily nice people who've contacted me over the years to ask permission to transform my work. Hopefully this will cover further questions:
I give blanket permission to translate, draw, podfic, make a papier-mâché representation - or whatever else the future holds in store - of any and all of my FANFICTON work (aka, not the original work). Please stick to the guidelines below:
. Please mention my name and a link back to my AO3 archive at some point ^^; I'm intending to put everything up on there.
. Some of my fics come in two versions, old and 'rewrite'. If possible and applicable, please add which was used or people might get confused
. If you can, please drop a note in reply to this post to mention which works you're thinking of transforming, because this might give me the opportunity of warning you if a rewrite is in progress and that waiting a short while might be advisable (though I won't stop you if you prefer Classic Mal to New And Improved Mal or Zero Cal Mal)
. Once you're done, feel free to also drop a reply to this post , with a link to your work, as others may enjoy knowing where such things can be found. Also go there if you're curious to see what's out there.
Original work:
At this point in time, I do NOT give a blanket permission for anything regarding my original work (Outland and a few one-shots and things scurrying around). I realize that I've posted it on the internet and thus it probably belongs to the whole planet as well as whichever puzzled aliens are getting signals from our solar system since the fifties, however I would prefer to keep as much of a hand on these as I can. If you would like to do something with those, please contact me via DW messaging and WAIT FOR MY PERMISSION please. I'll try not to take 10 years to get back to you...
Disclaimer:
Maybe the world's changed in fanfiction land, because "fair usage" seems to have grown claws and fangs since I was last around, but I still think it's worth being said:
All fandoms I write in - Gundam Wing, Naturo, One Piece and Supernatural so far - belong to their creators and distributors and armies of lawyers, and I make no money off of any of this. And a huge - HUGE - thank you to all of those creators and mad dreamers who came up with these beautiful fascinating worlds and characters that have intrigued me enough to make me want to play in them year after year.
Polish translation
Date: 2020-11-21 01:42 pm (UTC)I’m a big fan of your Naruto fiction and your lyrical expression. I’m in the beginning stage of translating Hunter’s Moon into Polish, my native language. This brings me a lot of joy. Would it be possible to get in touch with you in case I need some clarification along the way? Everything has pretty much been clear so far, except for one sentence that I figured could actually have a contradictory meaning to the one I initially assumed, and I’d love to ask you about that if given a chance.
I don’t have any known fanfiction account where I could publish the translation when I’m done. I actually just set up this account to be able to send you a note. I was hoping to give the translation to you to publish on your AO3, but then I thought I actually might translate more fanfiction stories, your included, in the future. If you have any thoughts about what would be most helpful solution in that case, I’d be in your debt. I’ve always been “behind the scenes” and I’m unsure what’s the next best step.
Happily awaiting your reply!

Date: 2020-11-21 07:38 pm (UTC)No problem, you can ask me anything that need clarification. The simplest might just be to copy/paste the sentence or paragraph that's giving you problems into a reply to this post.
As to where to post the translated fic, I can post the translation for you in my account if you want, but if you want to do more fics and particularly of other authors, it'd be best to create your own AO3 account. It's easy, even if you have to wait a bit for the account invitation. When you post a fic on Ao3, there is a checkbox to indicate 'This work is a remix, a translation, a podfic, or was inspired by another work' and allows you to link a URL, even to a fic on another site, so that works pretty well.
Good luck :)
Re: Polish translation
Date: 2020-11-21 09:16 pm (UTC)Anyway, here is the paragraph that gave me a pause:
“Since Iruka didn't have any fellow spies, and also a lot to live for, he didn't panic. He couldn’t afford to. Besides, he was a Chuunin of the Village Hidden in Leaves; he’d followed one of the strictest trainings on the planet; he wasn’t prone to flying off the handle.”
The part that says, “and also a lot to live for” could mean both that he did have a lot to live for or did not have a lot to live for, and based on the context I initially thought that he did have a lot to live for, but I guess the opposite could also be true 🤷♀️ I just want to make sure.
Thanks 🙏🏻

Date: 2020-12-03 12:56 pm (UTC)"That's certainly how I remember it. One minute we were arguing about Naruto - as usual - the next you had your tongue in my mouth."
"That was after you put your hand on my-"
Here Iruka had been cut off by Kakashi saying “whatever,” and what I need to know is: what is it exactly that he put his hands on? The reason it would benefit me to know this is that in Polish language words have genders. A particular gender will determine which version of “my” I should insert. And so, if it was Iruka’s head or neck, I would have to write “mojej,” and if it was his cheek or ass, I would write “moim.” Those might lead a reader to try and guess what is it exactly Kakashi put his hands on, and I’d rather it not mislead them with my sloppy word choice stemming from me brushing off my lack of information and just writing whatever, if that makes sense. In this way I want to be fair to your vision.
Thank you for your help~

Re: Polish translation
Date: 2020-12-06 11:26 pm (UTC)"Something in Iruka refused to relax. Then the killing intent hit him like a gale wind.
For an instant he thought it had actually picked him up and flung him off the roof. He was falling through darkness, he was dead-
His foot hit the thermos as he staggered back;"
"Dead" is written in italics, and that's the word I have a question about. Do you mean that he felt like he was ALREADY dead (like this killing intent made him feel for a moment like he died because of it already), or that he felt like he was ABOUT to be dead (because the killng intent felt so intense it felt like his fate was already doomed and he could not escape it), or was it something else?
This will determine how I will need to decide to put it into Polish words for it to convey what it is supposed to. Thank you!
