I forgot to update my DW account ^^; In my defense, I've been veeery busy, both IRL and with ficcage.

The World's Greatest Swordswoman (One Piece, CP9 and Straw Hats fic)
When you live in a world where Devil Fruit can change your skills, your anatomy or even your physical composition, things like gender identity are going to be even more fluid than usual.

Something that's not fluid, though? Zoro's attitude. That's a fucking rock.

50 Ways To Leave Your Lover (Gundam Wing, 1x2)
Duo was well placed to know that Heero was a deadly cold hard-ass ex-terrorist with an attitude, so really, how hard could it be to have a girl not fall for the prickly bastard?

Answer: Pretty damn difficult, actually.

Upper Hand (One Piece, CP9 and Galley-La, Lucci/Pauly)
After working with Lulu and Tilestone, Paulie was used to tough co-workers and eccentric characters. So what it was that annoyed Paulie so much about the new guy, Lucci, was a bit of a mystery, but it wasn't two weeks before whatever it was came to a head in the manner these things usually do.

ALL of the Drabbles Various fandoms (no crossovers) One Piece, Naruto, Gundam Wing and Good Omens. Others might eventually end up there too. All ratings and styles, please heed warnings.

Also been adding chapters to Diplomatic Relations, Freeport, Source of All Things and Outlands.

And IN ADDITION I have also started writing in another fandom because apparently I do not need sleep. Or a life other than having a family, a job, dogs and a hobby that eats my brain on toast with a side of relish. New work should roll out within a week or two, I hope. Holiday season may disrupt just about anything and everything (somebody has to bake those cookies. And eat them.) however a bit of spare time may also accelerate all this writing and archiving I'm doing. We'll see.

One Piece Interludes (One Piece, Genfic)
Includes Fish Stick Interlude, Interlude for Eight Straw Hats and One Giraffe, and Labyrinthine Interlude.

Diplomatic Relations (Naruto, Gaara/Lee)
The second big kahuna of fics!
Rock Lee, Diplomatic Envoy to Sunagakure. There are so many ways that could go wrong. But Lee is determined to succeed! And to befriend the feared Kazekage too, while he's at it. Good thing Lee loves a challenge...

In Gundam Wing news, The Arrangement is now fully archived on AO3 with a bonus chapter in celebration of its cleanup and posting. It's going to feel weird not posting a chapter of that every weekday now...

Source of All Things is still ongoing, and Freeport will start up tomorrow.

Customer Service In The Food Industry (One Piece, CP9 and Straw Hats fic)
They were starving. That was reason enough for Zeff to open the Baratie's doors and feed them, whoever the hell they were.

Then he offered them a job, because the waiters and most of the other cooks had all jumped ship again and these guys looked kinda tough and not likely to scare easy. He didn't care if they were refugees of the World Government, he didn't care about their past, he didn't care what else they could do as long as the dishes were cleaned, the soup served, the vegetables chopped and Zeff's rules respected. Oh, and the pigeon had to stay out of the kitchen. That was a must. Give the Health Inspector the wiggins otherwise.

Oddly enough, it did not turn out to be a complete and utter disaster. Strange things happen on the seas.

Something In The Water (Naturo, very, very Gen)
The party was boring. A bit too boring, even. Unnaturally boring and worryingly so, for the leader of a village with a sudden sharp concern about its future.

And added a new set of chapters to Beautiful Symmetries

I think I wrote one decent angst fics in each of the three fandoms I've written in, and I decided to post them the same week for...reasons. For me, it was interesting to compare the styles of each, for starters.

Flayed Horses (Gundam Wing, HeeroxWufei)
Wufei found Heero a few months after the war had ended and spent over a year helping him find that end of the war for himself. It was...a lot of work. There were still no go zones and things they could not do together as a couple, but a museum should be safe enough-

Wufei found Heero a few months after the war had ended.

The war had ended. Ended. Ended.

never ends never ends never ends never ends never ends never ends

Missing (Naruto, GaaraxLee)
'Missing in Action' they tell Gaara.

'Concrete proof of his death', 'absolutely certain', 'name added to the cenotaph', 'don't cling to false hope' and other irrelevant things are added. The first word is all that matters.

If Lee is dead, Gaara would surely feel it to the bottom of his soul because Lee is the better part of that soul. He's not dead, he's missing.

Gaara is going to find him.

Cold Dish (One Piece, Gen)
Take one blood-soaked tragedy
Baste in unfair odds and pepper with deceit
Break it apart and flambé the pieces
Pour into a crockpot and bring to a slow boil
Crack two shipmates and add one at a time
Blend well and leave to stew for a year

Makes one portion
Serve cold

I went on a veritable archiving frenzy over the weekend.

Duty and Bloodshed (One Piece, CP9)
Collected stories of CP9, loosely interconnected.

Includes the 'Yalta-verse' stories.

So far there's Dedication, Belling the Cat (aka, Lucci gets p0wned), and Hot Seat. There will be Cordially Invited, Yalta and Homework up by the end of the week too.

Break in the Routine (Naruto, KakaGai)
Kakashi had heard people complain about 'routine', calling it humdrum and boring. For Kakashi, routine meant that nobody was actively trying to kill him and there were no missions that day. Routine was good.

An implausible green and orange streak vaulted over the iron fence and darted off a cherry tree, causing a dramatic shower of petals around him as he hit the ground. Gai, showing up for his regular challenge. Yup, still routine...Until Gai told him what he was challenging Kakashi at this time.

Beautiful Symmetries (Gundam Wing, 1x2x5)
Neither the war nor Treize had had the decency to finish me off. Adrift without a battle or an enemy to fight, I may have made some, shall we say, ill-considered decisions. Fortunately I survived the Peace in much the same way I had survived the War. As a Preventer, I could still be useful, I could still fight for a good cause and justify my survival. Best of all, I could do so as a solo operative, an independence that suited my solitary nature down to the ground.

And then those two showed up in my life again, needing a partner.

It'd been a few months since my life had last gone to hell in a hand-basket. I guess I was past due.

---

And of course The Arrangement and Source of All Things are also still getting updated on a daily or weekly basis, respectively.

I'd have listed them in the subject line but I happened to pick two fics with extra long titles and ran out of space, go me.

Nil By Mouth (Gundam Wing, Heero/Duo)
Preventers get into lotsa fights, and sometimes we get a tooth knocked loose. I'm fine with going to the dentist, but Heero? That's another matter. Fortunately he's got me to drag him over there, because someone's gotta. And yes, I remembered to disarm him first; I rather like our dentist, and there aren't many like him who's willing to take care of us ex-Gundam Pilots for some reason.

Big Heart, Drunken Fist (Naruto, Gaara/Lee)
Tales from a post-series timeline where Gaara and Lee, having hooked up a few years before, eventually decided they were married. Anybody who wished to object was invited to visit the Kazekage in his office to discuss it at length.
Nobody objected.
And so life went on in Suna as usual. The usual being rife with the the expected amount of craziness.

Handling Conflicts Between Cats and Dogs (One Piece, Gen)
Vice Admiral Garp gets a complaint from another government agency about his handling of the Straw Hat matter. He'll manage the situation with discretion and tact. Or not.

(Timeline: Right after the Water 7 arc and Garp's decision to let Luffy and co sail away scot free. Another branch of the government has questions about this...)
maldoror_chant: (Default)
And we're off to stranger shores!

Descent (Naruto, Kakashi/Gai)
A and S rank missions are killers - especially the kind Tsunade hands out since she's been made Godaime. Kakashi has handled some pretty rough ones over the years with his teams, wow, he could tell you stories...

But his team is gone. He's no longer a Jounin-sensei and he no longer has to watch over a bunch of brats. Now his missions are ANBU level.

ANBU missions are different. The view through that mask is narrow. There is nothing to protect, only targets to kill. There is no mercy, no regret, no remorse. No prisoners. It's very simple, really. Considerably simpler than being a Jounin-sensei. If only Gai didn't insist on joining his rival/friend/partner around on these, it'd be simpler still.

Up On The Peak (One Piece, faint Zoro/Kaku)
A year after Enies Lobby, Kaku catches up with Roronoa Zoro for a rematch. A battle featuring swords, reasons to fight, a sprinkling of odd emotions and, of course, giraffes.

(Timeline: mythical 'post-series' after the Strawhats reach Raftel, get the One Piece and kick the World Government to the carpet.)

As it happens, I launch away from 'normal' ships in both Naruto and One piece on the same day. Enjoy the last taste of normalcy in the links below, ladies and gents; next week it's all Pimp Pigeons and Eyebrows from here on out!

A Simple Night (Naruto, SasuNaru, rather cracked)
Kankuro turned and said the five words he never thought he'd say in this lifetime. "So, Gaara, want a beer?"

Hah, that was weird. But hey, hanging out with his brother and some Konoha buddies in a bar after a mission was completely normal. Yeah, nice relaxing evening, nothing dangerous or disturbing around. Cool.

Do Over (One Piece, ZoSan, Explicit)
It's Zoro. It's Sanji. It's their whirlwind 'I'm tougher than you!' relationship. It's their second time.
maldoror_chant: (Default)
Still busy archivin' away.

Spring Fever (Naturo, KakaIru)
Spring is an insidious season that a good Shinobi should avoid at all cost. If he can't do that, he can at least avoid falling for someone way too nice and out of his class altogether.

Ring Around (One Piece, Gen)
Nami's nakama were certifiable. Loony-bin material, every last one of them.

Monsters (Gundam Wing, AU,1x2,3x4)
AU gently parodying the supernatural fic genre, and that's all I can really say about it.

New post on AO3

The Perfect Trap (Kakashi/Iruka)
The dog was trying to get Iruka's attention. It seemed to want to drag him away from the safety of the schoolyard and off to the Forest of Death. Was someone in trouble?
Yes, it turned out a genius Jounin had gotten himself caught in the perfect trap.

(Timeline: Shortly after the Chuunin exam)

New post on AO3

The Wheel (Gen, Sand Sibling centric)
Sunagakure. Still reeling from their defeat at the Chuunin exams and the loss of their leader to treachery. As if to take advantage of their weakness and disarray, something dark is stirring in the village. An old sin, an unbearable pain, is being brought to their door. And it is killing people.

Oddly enough, it's not Gaara. But Sunagakure might take some convincing of that.

New post on AO3

Love Songs and Ladies (Naruto, nascent Sasuke/Naruto)
Her name was Minako. She was sixteen, and deep in the throes of a Forbidden Romance. For she was the daughter of a rich and powerful family, and he was a ninja, whose obligation it was to escort her back to her father’s home. Separated by caste and duty, yet brought together by Love; the Lady and the Warrior.

It was all so romantic, that Minako had already fallen in love before she’d actually seen the Shinobi who were going to escort her back home.

Shinobi are renowned fighters and killers. They don't feature in many Love Epics, however, and there is probably a good reason for that.

Here's the short sidefic to Hunter's Moon. Note that if you've not read Hunter's Moon, you won't understand any of this.

Rating: PG13
Warning: Language, mentions of violence, yaoi.

Hunter's Moon: End Mission )
maldoror_chant: (Default)
Welp, going to start posting all my other stuff here and on AO3.

I wrote this back in 2005 (holy shit!) for Sintari's 'My Fandom Needs New Blood' contest. It won the first prize ^____^ Me happy.
