Belated thanks to previous readers and HFT
Aug. 9th, 2017 07:28 pmBefore I start posting Outlands, I want to say a quick thanks to readers from LJ and elsewhere who've commented, critiqued, poked, praised and prodded me over the years. I really did enjoy the comments. Someone - I'm sorry, I can't find the post or message now - suggested I put up the written and half written chapters As Is, so people who wanted to could read them whatever shape they were in. I thought that was a good idea, as I did feel sad that I hadn't finished the bloody thing. I started re-reading Outlands and the extra chapters to see what I had to work with.
While doing so, I was listening for the first time to a new-ish album from Hubert Felix Thiefaine, whose songs inspired my Maldoror handle, some of my visuals and a fair chunk of my weirdness, the bit that wasn't innate. The second song I ran was Fièvre Resurrectionelle.
6 milliards de fantômes cherchent la sortie
avec des sonotones & des cannes assorties
mais toi tu viens d'ailleurs, d'une étrange spirale
d'un maelström unique dans la brèche spatiale
In English, with my own translation (I prefer to do things myself, I'm stupid and stubborn that way):
"6 billion ghosts look for the exit
with sonotones and matching canes-
but you, you come from elsewhere, from a strange spiral
from a unique maelstrom in a spatial breach".
OKAY! I told my iPhone. I'LL FINISH OUTLANDS! Geez.
